Aston Villa are ready to offer Nicky Shorey to Everton for Leighton Baines.

The Mirror says Villa boss Martin O'Neill is looking for another left-back as out-of-favour Shorey, 27, wants to move on for regular football.

O'Neill is a fan of Baines despite his indifferent spell at Goodison Park due to injuries following a £6million move from Wigan in August 2007.

Baines, an Everton supporter, is a settled member of David Moyes's team. But Villa could get their man if they offer Shorey plus cash and put Baines on £40,000-a-week like most of their first team.
