Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook is a target for Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

The Telegraph says Villa boss Tim Sherwood is ready to take on Newcastle in a battle to sign Cook this summer.

Sherwood has identified Cook as a possible target as part of his mission to create a squad of emerging English talent.

Cook, the England under-19 international, has established a reputation as one of the most highly-regarded young players outside the Premier League and Villa have scouted him frequently this season, even before Sherwood's appointment.
