Aston Villa and Newcastle are battling for Porto fullback Jose Bosingwa.
The Sunday Mirror says the 23-year-old Portugal international can operate in midfield or at right-back and sources inside Porto claim Villa boss Martin O'Neill has tabled a £6m offer.
Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is also trailing Bosingwa.
