Villa new boy Holman hoping to do his folks proud

Brett Holman is determined to play well for new club Aston Villa so his parents can watch him succeed.

The Australian international made his Premier League bow in the 1-0 loss at West Ham United last weekend and is now looking to build on his first outing in England's top flight.

Obviously the main agenda is to contribute to the Villa team but Holman is also looking to provide as much joy for his parents, particularly his dad Trevor who is likely to wake early to watch live from Australia.

"I presume it would be on live back home, early in the morning - I think my old man will be up and watching it," Holman told the Birmingham Mail.

"He always tries to watch the games, but I don't think my mum (Lyn) will be up to watch it.

"She'll probably just ask him the score when he wakes up. But my old man always gets up, he loves watching them, so I presume he'll be up at the crack of dawn."
