Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland is convinced they're about to give someone a hiding.

Ireland took enough encouragement from the 0-0 draw with Sunderland to believe they will score enough to stay up.

"We had a few chances and I am sure sooner or later they will go in," he said ahead of their clash with Bolton Wanderers.

"It is only a matter of time before we hit someone three or four. We've been knocking on the door but unfortunately it's not happening.

"Hopefully against Bolton we can open up and the goals will come. It's frustrating because at home we are looking to win as many games as possible.

"We are at home again in front of our own crowd and we know they're backing us. We're trying to kick on and turn it into a win."
