Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland has missed out on a final pay-out from his Manchester City contract.
The Sunday Mirror says City refused to hand over around £500,000 to the club's former player of the year after Ireland broke a confidentiality agreement when he became an £8m makeweight in the £24m deal that took James Milner to the Etihad Stadium last summer.
Ireland has now had an appeal against the original decision kicked out.
