Villa midfielder Ireland ends rift with Man City boss Mancini

Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland no longer holds a grudge against Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.

Ireland lambasted Mancini when he was dumped by the Italian two years ago.

He said at the time: "Mancini does not build relationships with players. I think that's the way he is. He has everybody a bit on edge.

"I don't think loyalty is much in anyone's mind at Manchester City. I felt like I would be next to be shown the door - a lot of players felt like that as well."

But not only has Ireland sorted out his problems with his former boss, he also believes Mancini is the right man for the job at the Etihad.

Ireland told the Mirror: "I live in the same area as him. I bump into him occasionally and we have a chat.

"It's completely fine. I understand it was a football decision. It was the right time for me to leave.

"He has to be (the right man for City). He has won them the league and they are still unbeaten in the Premier League so it's not like he has done really bad.

"I think Mancini has done a great job, and I can't see that changing."
