Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph is in line for a first England call-up.
The Telegraph says Delph is poised to receive his first call-up on Thursday to the senior England squad.
Roy Hodgson, the England manager, made a personal check on Delph in Villa's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday and is ready to name him in his squad as he battles to deal with an acute midfield injury crisis.
Hodgson had considered Delph, 24, last season but was concerned at his discipline but the midfielder has improved that side of his game drastically over the past 12 months.
Delph, a £6 million signing from Leeds United in 2009, has been capped at under-19 and under-21 level for England, and could make his debut against Norway in the friendly international at Wembley early next month.
