Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley is in line for an England recall.

Roy Hodgson will name his England squad for the friendly match against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia on Thursday.

The Mail on Sunday says Hodgson watched Cleverley on Saturday and despite Aston Villa's 6-1 defeat to Southampton. Cleverley's form in recent weeks has put him on the verge of a recall.

He's struggled to make an impression in the withdrawn role he played under Paul Lambert but has thrived under Sherwood.
