Aston Villa No2 Gary McAllister was pleased with John Carew's show of commitment for their draw with Birmingham City.
Carew is available from Villa this month, but put in a good shift yesterday.
McAllister told Villa's website: "He has not really had a sustained run at all but he has done a job for us today.
"He tried to keep the ball up the pitch so we could build off him.
"I thought everyone did well today, the two subs who came on added to our performance as well, so we are pleased with everyone.
"John is an experienced man and he is not going to play any differently.
"He is a seasoned international footballer who has scored a lot of goals in this division and will continue to work hard for the club."
