Aston Villa have reportedly made contact with Birmingham City about the availability of Alex McLeish.
The Scottish tactician has stepped down from his role at the relegated club and now Second City rivals Villa are looking to fill their vacant position.
Birmingham have refused to accept McLeish's resignation and will seek financial recompense in the way of around £5million if he goes to another club.
The Brum are believed to be irate with McLeish over his decision to quit via email and they will certainly not let him depart St Andrew's for nothing.
