Aston Villa legend Paul McGrath is a fan of Wolves striker Kevin Doyle.
McGrath believes Doyle and West Bromwich Albion's Shane Long should lead the Republic of Ireland attack.
"To be honest I don't think Doyle has been at his best in the last couple of games before Friday's victory and his goal, but I certainly would not take him out," McGrath told the Sunday Mercury.
"To me I really think that he's the man who works their back people so well and enables the midfield to get up.
"Shane Long is brilliant, and it's great to see how much he has come along, but I still think it should be Kevin's place.
"Shane is a huge part of what Ireland are trying to build as a team, and he's done tremendously well in England, but at the moment I would go with Kevin."
