Aston Villa midfielder Jonathan Hogg is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured in a tackle during reserve-team action last week against Tottenham.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill told avfc.co.uk: "It's a really bad injury and I really feel for the boy. He faces a long road back."

Hogg added: "It was a horrible challenge and my leg's a mess. But the manager has told me the club will look after me and I just have to get my head down and work hard to get back from this."
