"The fact that Nathan has only recently turned 17 and has been given a squad number has given a big lift to all the academy lads," Jones told Villa's website.
"Hopefully before the season finishes he'll be given his debut but that's up to him and how he plays for the reserves and youth team - but watch out, he'll get a chance.
"He's got ability - there's no doubt about that - and he can do things that other players of his age can't do.
"We just want him to keep working on that and we're making sure his feet stay on the floor. He knows he's a good player and needs to go out and prove that every time he plays."
