Aston Villa goalkeeper Stuart Taylor was happy with his rare appearance on Monday night in their draw with Liverpool.

With Scott Carson barred from playing against his parent club, Villa boss Martin O'Neill had to choose between Taylor and Thomas Sorensen as a replacement.

Former Arsenal keeper Taylor told Villa's website: "I knew either myself or Thomas would be playing in the game and we both had to prepare well. We only find out the team when we get into the dressing room before each match.

"The manager keeps things close to his chest. I was half-expecting to play and knew I had to perform well on the day."
