Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has welcomed interest from Derby County.

"There can be no worse solution than being left out for the rest of the season," the Villa goalie told BT. "I can drive to and from my house and play in The Premier League [with Derby] and, at the same time, be a help to them.

"That would be the optimal outcome.

"For me, it is the most important thing to be playing but it depends also on their thinking.

"If they want to have me just for now or whether it is more long term."
