Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given admits Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel was his sporting hero.

Given joined Villa in the summer from Manchester City.

"Peter Schmeichel. One of the best keepers I've ever seen. I played against him a couple of times when I was at Newcastle and, funnily enough, he was at Aston Villa. He was good enough to give me his jersey and gloves afterwards," he told the Daily Mail.
