Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given says the fans have every right to be upset with their recent form.
Villa crashed out of the FA Cup to ChampionshipMillwall last Friday just a few days after they were humiliated in the Capital One Cup semi-final by League Two Bradford City.
"We've deserved all the criticism that has come our way and we have to take it on the chin," Given told the Express & Star.
"You have to be just as brave when things aren't going well, the results are going against you and you're getting a hammering in the media.
"Losing to Bradford was humiliating really, and probably the worst result in professional football that I've ever been involved in.
"I've always said one of the great things about football is that after a failure you soon get a chance to redeem yourself, but we didn't take that chance on Friday night against Millwall. That defeat has heaped even more misery on us."
