Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has paid tribute to Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
Given, currently on-loan at Middlesbrough, played for Dalglish at Newcastle United.
He told the Daily Mail: "He was probably the biggest influence on my career on that list. He signed me for Blackburn and Newcastle and then threw me into the Premier League aged 21 and not many managers would have done that. Shaka Hislop and Pavel Srnicek were still there at that point and it was a huge boost to a keeper of my age.
"He followed Kevin Keegan at Newcastle and things changed for whatever reason. It didn't work for him but I have a lot of respect for him for what he did for my career.
"He was a good manager. He won the Premier League at Blackburn with resources that you could say are nothing compared to what Chelsea and Man City have spent, even though he obviously did have money from Jack Walker. He is a fantastic man-manager which was his biggest attribute."
