Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has warned his teammates not to let praise go to their heads.

He told the Sunday Mercury: "You have to erase your memory of everything that is said off the field and concentrate only on the task in hand.

"We have a lot of talent in the squad so from game to game certain people will be praised.

"But I don't think you can take any notice of that because it's going to be different each week.

"We're a team we've got good spirit and we've got some tremendous players in the squad.

"Whoever gets the accolade for certain games is absolutely irrelevant to be honest with you and that is the truth.

"I think each and everyone of us just go into the game trying to do our job the best we can and hoping we can get the three points from every Premier League game that we play."
