Villa join Fulham interest for Middlesbrough defender Huth

Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth is interesting Aston Villa.

The Daily Mail says Villa manager Martin O'Neill was at Boro's game with Sheffield United on Friday and used the opportunity to run the rule over defensive pairing David Wheater and Robert Huth.

O'Neill, who still hopes to fend off competition from Sunderland and Manchester City for Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin, wants a commanding centre half and sees Wheater, in particular, as a potential England regular.

However, that will be reflected in Boro's asking price of around £8m. Fulham are also interested in Huth.
