Aston Villa are desperate to retain veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel and have opened up contract talks with him.
The 39-year old American has been in top form in an otherwise disastrous season for Villa and club officials are hoping he will see out his career with at Villa Park.
His agent Tony McGill said that Friedel was content at Villa and is now pondering a new deal.
"We are in talks over a new contract. Brad is very happy at Villa," he said.
"If Brad was not happy, he would not be talking over a new contract. I have spoken with (Villa) chief executive Paul Faulkner and talks are going very well indeed."
