Aston Villa are set to wrap up the signing of Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

The Mirror says Rovers boss Paul Ince is ready to sell the American veteran as he prepares to welcome Tottenham's Paul Robinson as part of David Bentley's move to White Hart Lane.

Friedel knows the size of the jackpot waiting for him at Villa but will not be allowed to leave until Rovers have a replacement.

Villa have also set up a deal for young American Brad Guzan, but he will be coming as Friedel's deputy and there are still work permit issues to resolve.
