Aston Villa hero Ian Taylor isn't celebrating Robert Pires' signing just yet.
The Villa legend reckons the jury is out as far as former Arsenal and France superstar Pires is concerned.
Taylor, 42, admitted to the Sunday Mirror: "As soon as I heard I went straight into the garage to look for my boots!
"He's available, he has a wealth of experience and Villa need an extra body or two. But what condition is he in and has he been brought in to play?
"He seems to be the ultimate professional, but ask the fans and you'll get mixed messages. If it was a few years ago they'd all be delighted.
"He's been training with Arsenal, but that's a very different thing to playing.
"Sol Campbell trained with Arsenal last year and how many games has he played for Newcastle?
"Pires has been a great player in his time and I'm sure the younger players will look up at him. They will learn a lot from him, but Gary McAllister and Sid [Gordon] Cowans are as experienced as anybody and they are at the club already.
"What happens if he hardly plays any games? There's a danger in having a signing like that."
