Aston Villa hero Ugo Ehiogu feels Paul Lambert's team has lost too much experience this season.

Villa are looking relegation candidates after a poor first-half of the season.

Ehiogu told the Daily Mail: "Look at the quality Villa have lost in recent seasons - Ashley Young, Stewart Downing, James Milner, Gareth Barry, Martin Laursen, Olof Mellberg.

"They have not been replaced with players of similar standing. It's no wonder results are slipping. The kids should have been integrated into the team, not thrown in at the same time. These boys at the back are struggling big-time. They are moved all over the place."
