Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has been handed a £10 million January transfer warchest.

The Daily Star says Villa have no plans to axe Lambert after Tuesday's Capital One Cup semi- final first-leg defeat at League Two Bantams.

Instead, owner Randy Lerner will provide the Villa boss with around £10m to boost his squad.

Villa are one point above the Premier League drop zone following a Christmas in which they conceded 15 goals in three defeats.
