Villa goal scorer Weimann thrilled with stunning effort

Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann was delighted with his goal in their 1-1 draw with Stoke City.

He admitted that alongside Marc Albrighton, Chris Herd and Barry Bannan, who have also emerged into the Villa first-team, he is just happy to be given a chance to prove himself.

"It's great for our experience to play out there," he said. "Against Liverpool it was more football and today it was more physical so you are learning every game. It is really good for the youngsters.

"It is the aim when you come to the academy that you want to play for the first team. With so many coming through we are all happy to be in the team and hopefully it will stay like that as long as possible.

"When you are on the pitch you try and do your best so that the manager thinks he has done well, he deserves another chance. Hopefully I did that today and will get another chance soon."
