Aston Villa fullback Nicky Shorey hopes a loan move to Nottingham Forest can kickstart his career and get him a transfer out of Villa Park.
Shorey was in the England side two years ago while at Reading.
He joined Villa last year but lost his place after boss Martin O'Neill signed Stephen Warnock from Blackburn in August.
Shorey, 28, said: "It's a chance to put myself back in the shop window again.
"It's extremely frustrating but the manager makes his decision and you have to get on with it.
"I've learnt a lot at Villa in terms of the other side of football, when you're not playing and feel you should be. I want to enjoy it again at Forest."
