Aston Villa fullback Luke Young fears his England chances have passed him by.
The former Middlesbrough full back said: "I've not been on the pitch for England for the past three years and, at the age of 29, it's something that may have passed me by.
"However, it's not at the forefront of my mind at the minute. I've just come to a new club and I'm going to try and bed myself into the starting XI at Aston Villa.
"I'm not going to rule myself out but it looks like it's not going to happen. I'm just going to do what I can and if it's good enough, then it's good enough."
Villa boss Martin O'Neill was more circumspect in his assessment of Young's displays so far. He said: "Luke hasn't caused me a moment's bother since he arrived. But there are things he can improve on. He himself would recognise that. Everything else will fall into place because there's a fair chance that the England manager will arrive at some stage.
"Just because you play a couple of half decent games doesn't mean you are entitled to international recognition."
