Aston Villa could have beaten Manchester United for Belgian prospect Adnan Januzaj, it has been revealed.
Januzaj is moving to United, but only after resisting the interest of Villa and Lille.
Villa were ready to step up their bid for the attacker after offering him trials, only for United to step in and sign the left-sided winger to a deal worth €3,000-a-week.
Januzaj, 16, had been with Anderlecht since he was six years of age.
