Villa fans struggle in style stakes

The Birmingham Mail reports that football fans in the Midlands were given a drubbing in the style stakes, being ranked among the worst in the country.

Birmingham City, Aston Villa, West Brom, and Wolves all failed to make it into the Premiership of the Brylcreem League of Style - a set of four divisions ranking fans' trendiness.

Supporters answered questions about their top holiday destinations, favourite nights out, designer labels, and haircuts with each response getting a score out of 10.

Aston Villa fans have the most to be embarrassed about, finishing 86th - seven places from rock-bottom.

Wolves fared little better, finishing in 79th place, and newly promoted Birmingham City were left propping up the Championship table, way beneath their team's new Premiership status.

But Baggies fans can hold their heads slightly higher as they finished 38th.

Walsall supporters had something to strut about as the club finished in League One alongside giants such as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Liverpool's fans were only one point away from dropping out of the league altogether but top of the Premiership were Reading fans who claimed to enjoy a vintage wine and night at the theatre.

Bottom of the four divisions were Wigan supporters who thought a pint of lager was the most sophisticated drink and adidas tracksuits were fashion statements.
