Villa eager to sure up Sunderland, Newcastle target Weimann

Aston Villa will offer promising striker Andreas Weimann a new deal in a bid to ward off any interested clubs.

The 21-year old Austrian international enjoyed an extended run in the Villa first team last season, allowing him to score 12 goals for Paul Lambert, who is eager to keep him at Villa Park.

The likes of Sunderland, Newcastle United and Norwich City are showing interest in Weimann but his agent Robert Groener says the Birmingham-based outfit are determined for him to remain in a Villa shirt.

"There is a meeting planned and we hope we can come to a successful conclusion," Groener told reporters.

"Andi will stay in the Premier League, but at which club I do not know at this moment. There are offers, but we will first meet Villa and listen to them."
