Aston Villa are due to pay the wages of Jermaine Jenas despite the fact that the midfielder is set to be sidelined for the rest of the season.
The 28-year old was on loan from Tottenham when he sustained the season-ending Achilles injury and Villa boss Alex McLeish has confirmed the West Midlands outfit will pick up the wage bill as they made an agreement with Spurs.
"The club which takes him (a player) on loan has to fulfil that agreement. Jermaine will go back to Tottenham but we have an agreement with Tottenham.""I think you do an agreement with a club and you take that on as far as the agreement goes (lasts)," said McLeish.
McLeish added: "Unfortunately his career never got started here at Villa and I really feel for Jermaine."
