Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is puzzled by reports that the Midlanders have made an offer for Rennes keeper Nicolas Douchez. Reports in France stated that the 30 year old had rejected the chance to join Houllier in January.
"I deny contacting directly or indirectly Nicolas Douchez. It is fake," Houllier told L'Equipe.
"And if it would have been the case, I would have directly called Rennes' general manager Pierre Dreossi."
Rennes have offered him a new three-year deal, but he has stalled on that, instead opting to listen to other options.
"I will go where I am wanted," said Douchez. "For now I am seeing what is going to happen, and listen."
