Aston Villa defender Stephen O'Halloran has joined Leeds on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old, who spent a similar spell at ChampionshipSouthampton, for whom he made one appearance last month, will remain at Elland Road until March 29.

O'Halloran comes on the recommendation of Gary McAllister's assistant boss Steve Staunton.

Staunton capped the player twice while manager of Republic of Ireland, in friendlies against Ecuador and Bolivia last summer.
