Villa defender Knight raps Birmingham's De Ridder

Aston Villa defender Zat Knight has supported ref Steve Bennett and accused Birmingham midfielder Daniel de Ridder of cheating to win a penalty in Sunday's West Midlands derby.

Bennett is likely to escape being dropped over his handling of the game but could find himself presiding over a lower-profile game when the Premier League resumes after the international break.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, whose side lost 2-1, believed his player was denied two penalty appeals but Knight said: "De Ridder was obviously trying to cheat the referee. He should have stayed on his feet."
