Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies is enjoying his summer break.

Davies told Villa's website: "I was looking forward to the summer, not so much to be going on holidays and trotting the globe, just to have a break.

"It's not even down to tiredness, sometimes you just need to do a few different things to put things back into perspective so that when you come back next season you start right again.

"I'd never been involved in a season as long as the last one. It began in July. I didn't manage to play the Intertoto games but, after that, I played against Hafnarfjordur so it was a very early season.

"We go into another European campaign next year which could potentially be even longer because of the amount of games."
