Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia has scuppered his chance of a move away this summer with a freak injury.
N'Zogbia, 27, suffered a long-term Achilles tendon injury in Miami while getting fit for pre-season training.
Borussia Dortmund and Monaco were monitoring the situation. Villa boss Paul Lambert said: "Charles has undergone surgery in the US and will return next week."
