Vlaar believes Weimann can outshine Kuyt, who is now playing for Fenerbahce.
"Actually, yes, I knew about him because I know the youngsters of the national teams in Holland and when they played Austria, there was only one name they said to take a look for and that was Andi Weimann, so it was funny.
"I think he's improving. He's also pushing for the Austria senior squad. He's working very hard and improving every day. So that's very good, for us and for him as well.
"Kuyt has been massive for every team he's played for. Andi is a lot younger but if he goes on like that, he can become a better player because he's faster and always in the right place to score goals or give an assist."
