Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar admits victory over Manchester City has eased the home pressure.

They escaped their worst home start to a season since 1946 after losing to Liverpool and Newcastle in their opening two games.

Vlaar said: "You feel it. But when we scored the third goal I was sure we'd win the game because the spirit was amazing. We kept on going and they didn't really get big chances anymore, so I think we did great."
