Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar feels in good shape going into Holland's World Cup campaign.
Vlaar was Villa's best defender and among the most consistent outfield players as the club survived another relegation battle thanks to a late escape.
"All I could do last season was play well with the club," said Vlaar. "I have to be fit and work hard and play well. I want to do everything better for the team - do what I can to help them.
"This season was better than last year for my personal performance and I'm happy with that, but I always try to look for the next level.
"You can be happy with the game but things can always be better."
