The Dane is expected to be out for the season.
Vlaar told Villa's website: "It's unbelievable what happened to Jores. It's really frustrating.
"But he's doing great. He is in every day. He works hard. And he always has a smile on his face. That's good to see.
"It's not easy for him because I had the same injury too.
"He will come back stronger though, of that I have no doubt. I am sure of it.
"He is giving it everything. Now we have to remain patient for his return.
"He's always smiling. I got great energy from each step - however small. That's because you have the feeling that you're moving on and going forward. That keeps you busy. You focus on that. I am sure Jores is the same."
