Villa boss Sherwood: Cleverley needed to get out from under Scholes shadow

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood is delighted with the form of Tom Cleverley.

The midfielder is on-loan from Manchester United, where his deal expires in June.

Sherwood said: "When you have been hailed as the next Paul Scholes it puts a lot of pressure on you doesn't it?

"He is a player in his own right. He's only young. He's got a big future ahead of him."

Sherwood says all that is lacking from Cleverley now is to see his name on the scoresheet.

"He's capable of scoring I remember watching him for Watford when he scored about ten goals in a season on loan," Sherwood added.

"You can either score or you can't and he's more than capable of doing that."
