Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill says Arsenal rival Arsene Wenger was wrong to claim Stoke City deliberately targeted his players last week.

"It's all to do with how you take it on the day," said O'Neill, "it's not my job to say whether Arsene Wenger felt his team were being soullessly kicked about. For what it's worth, I felt Stoke played fairly.

"I would genuinely hope players don't go out to kick anyone. There are fair means of playing.

"And as long as our opponents remain within the laws of the game, who am I to complain about it? If I felt the treatment was illegal, I'd speak out."
