Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill wants to make another defensive signing.

The Daily Mail says Villa boss Martin O'Neill wants to sign either Matthew Upson or James Collins from West Ham before tomorrow's deadline.

Wales international Collins is the cheaper option at around £5m, with England's Upson likely to cost twice the amount.

Upson has also emerged as a surprise target for Fiorentina, but Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola will only let one of his centre-backs leave Upton Park.
