Villa boss O'Neill set for Cahill talks

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill will hold talks with Gary Cahill shortly to discuss the future of the defender, who is currently enjoying a successful loan spell with Sheffield United.

O'Neill told Villa's official website: "Gary is out there on loan. If he stays the full length of time he is due back with us for the Christmas period.

"I will be speaking to Gary at some stage between now and the end of his loan. In fact he is at a stage now where we can recall him any given day.

"I have only had a very, very short conversation with Bryan Robson who is delighted with the way he is playing - and that is only good news. Nothing else has been talked about.

"He is enjoying it. He is getting that first-team action which is good. His future will be visited at the time.

"At this moment, Curtis Davies still has not even made his first Premiership start for us, so everything at this minute in terms of centre-half positions looks okay.

"But those situations can change overnight with players getting injured and loss of form and stuff like that.

"At this minute it is working out well and Gary is getting all that first-team action.

"I have not discussed a thing with Gary, or even talked properly with Bryan Robson at all. Bryan had just spoken to me to say how well he had been doing."
