Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is seeking to organise preseason friendlies before their Intertoto Cup campaign kicks off in July.

Villa face Odense BK (Denmark), TPS Turku (Finland) or Lisburn Distillery (Northern Ireland) in the Intertoto, with the first-leg to be played on the weekend of July 19/20.

And O'Neill told avfc.co.uk: "We need to arrange pre-season games - we need a few matches before the Intertoto. We're now working on our pre-season.

"I would have preferred, certainly in the early stages, a more leisurely build-up but that's not to be and we just have to get on with it.

"I think we would have been back by July 7 or something like that and we'll be back in the early part of the week before. That's not a major difference and most of the existing squad are not on Euro 2008 duty."
