Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill believes Arsene Wenger is a victim of his own success at Arsenal.

He told AVTV: "Arsene Wenger has been a fine manager for a long, long time.

"Under him, Arsenal have always had a good footballing philosophy. That's been one of the trademarks of his sides. It's been very pleasing to watch.

"I think the side that went all those games undefeated in the same season were absolutely outstanding.

"They had ability, strength and pace - every attribute you needed to be successful. They could also tough it out with anyone.

"They went on to win the Premier League - and rightly so. They were terrific.

"Any side coming after is going to be compared with that great side until they win the title again or maybe the Champions League.

"That side was as good a team as I have seen in quite some considerable time.

"Saying that, Arsenal have some really class players and maybe, technically, better than that side that won the title. They certainly have the potential to be really great."
