Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill accepts they will face a battle to hang onto Liverpool target Gareth Barry over the summer.
O'Neill said: "Rafa Benitez could be back for Gareth. Arsenal could come in, Manchester United could come in. But if we qualify for the Champions League I think there's a decent chance Gareth will stay.
"There are a number of big 'ifs' but my stance has not changed."
