Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was delighted with Stiliyan Petrov's form in their stalemate with Portsmouth.

"There was a concern with the lads who played international football,'' he said.

"Ironically, the best player on the pitch - the one I was concerned about - was Petrov, who played in Georgia on Wednesday evening.

"I thought he was absolutely outstanding for us. Terrific. His defensive work was great and his driving forward was immense too."
